Not all doctors are specialized in the latest methods of cancer diagnostics. In addition, personalized diagnostic procedures are not yet covered by statutory health insurance as a standard service, which is why our tests are not yet offered in every oncology practice.

What is the testing of genetic expression levels of cancer cells?
Using molecular biological analysis, we identify the individual action profile of a tumor and find the therapeutic targets.
Why should the RNA gene expression levels of cancer cells be tested?
The measurement of RNA gene expression values is closer to the tumor process than a pure mutation analysis. This measurement can be used to determine the specific and current action profile and characteristics of important tumor signaling pathways.
What is the advantage of a Liquid Biopsy?
Fresh living tumor cells can be obtained easily and painlessly using liquid biopsy.
Tumor cells are also obtained from regions of the body that are often difficult to reach for conventional tissue biopsies, such as the lungs, pancreas or brain.
Tumor cells can also be obtained from urine, ascites or cerebrospinal fluid.
If tissue biopsies are available, these can also be used. This provides a wide range of options for obtaining tumor cells.
What information does the testing of genetic expression values of cancer cells provide?
The iSELECT and iComplete tests provide crucial insights regarding:
– the aggressiveness of the tumor
– the manipulation of the immune system by the tumor
– of resistance to drugs
– the activity of relevant signals
– the effectiveness of certain substances
The measurement results are assigned to therapeutic substances, based on recognized studies, so that the treating physician receives options for targeted therapy.
How is the measurement of gene expression data carried out?
The tumor cells are usually extracted from a blood sample, followed by analysis of the RNA to determine the activity of genes. However, the tumor cells can also be extracted from a biopsy, cerebrospinal fluid or ascites.
How does testing gene expression levels influence cancer treatment?
The therapy options obtained with the iSelect or iComplete test show personalized and targeted therapy options for the individual tumor, which the therapist can implement. Furthermore, substances that are unsuitable for the individual tumor, e.g. those used in chemotherapy, are also identified. This makes it possible, for example, to identify highly toxic therapeutic agents that the tumor simply passes through and exclude them from therapy.

How quickly can gene expression test results be obtained?
The laboratory work takes approx. 10 working days. A report is then written, which can take approx. 1 – 3 working days depending on the complexity of the case. The report must be sent to the attending physician due to legal requirements in the case of cancer. He can then forward the report to the patient.
Are the results of genetic expression testing reliable?
Reliability depends on various factors, including the test method and the quality of the sample taken. In many cases, however, Liquid Biopsy tests are a reliable complement to other diagnostic methods.
